I’m front end web developer, with UX, web design & development skills

With 10 years of commercial contracting experience. Delivering high profile web products on time & on budget. Working from coworking hubs in Brighton, & London.
I provide the technical expertise for charities, startups, local government, PR & marketing companies, design agencies & global brands on a wide range of digital projects.
Freelancer of the Year Award Winner
I won the Xchange team‘s national award in 2007, and came highly commended for digital excellence in 2011. These were both for the high quality of web projects that I have been delivering to a wide variety of respected London agencies and International companies whilst I have been freelancing.
Crafting hand coded markup means future-proofed code and flexibility
Hand coding makes web code more reliable, and less browser bugs. It’s future proofed as using standards based code will be supported by future browser manufacturers. Being obsessive about how code is structured semantically allows seamless addition of extra features to the web site in the future.
Dealing with digital projects – from idea to launch
I can be hired at an early stage of any web project to advise on best practices for: web strategy, user experience & web technology. For example, integrating a design into content management systems all have constraints & issues that I have a solid understanding of.
Keeping up to date with new web trends & technologies is almost a full time job in itself
on the web, be it an article on a blog or a new release of software. I regularly attend web conferences including SxSw and FOWD. This allows me to stay informed with the next generation of web sites and applications, as well as network with peers, colleagues and new contacts.
This is how I train myself in new skills:
- Attend seminars and conferences
- Personal projects involving new skills
- Engage with peers using social media
- Read web design books
- Read relevant websites
- Collaborate with colleagues on projects
When I’m not in the office, I’m in the great outdoors
Walking the many hidden corners of the UK, taking a group of friends on a canoe journey down the Thames, or relaxing with a glass of real cider. I volunteer for conservation charity which I lead Internationally for. These all combine smoothly with my life on the web.
