6 tools for increased productivity

.. and useful web services in a web 2.0 environment

want some quick tips on how to increase your productivity? Want to save less time trying to find the information you ‘filed’ last week?

Some are free, some are a few pounds, all well worth checking out to see of they can help you, like they have with me.

They are all about sharing, storing and using information efficiently:

  • basecamp – without a doubt, essential tool from 37signals- let your clients know at what stage you are with that all important project.. this is a lifesaver.. should of been using it earlier!
  • remember the milk – simple, easy to use ‘to do’ list with Mac OS X widget.
  • send large files – save your server some hastle, just upload to the free service, the recipient gets sent a secure link to download the file. thats it!
  • del.icio.us bookmarking – let other people know what you’re reading, find interesting/funny/geek and other note to bookmark.
  • flickr - great for sharing photos and tagging subjects – I use my pics for blogging, adding to groups and sharing with friends and family.
  • twitter – a great productivity tool. As a to do list, blogging platform and social networking. Its simple, its social and it has an RSS feed.

The reason why these services have become so popular is due to a number of reasons:

  • they are easy to use
  • they are fun
  • they are addictive
  • they are free or at little cost to a small business/freelancer

Of course there are many many more,
the services I have listed are not new, but as I have written they will increase your productivity whether you are just starting out, or like me looking for new ways to improve existing day to day workflow..
