Improvements to Jayonline
I’ve found some time and only gone and added extra functionality to Jayonline.
1/ AJAX functionality - to show the blog feed on the homepage which is in HTML format.
Partly due to Jeremy Keith writing ‘Bulletproof AJAX‘, a book which I have read recently. He has some examples of the code online, which is a great place to start playing around and seeing how the functionality can work for you.
The beauty of progressive enhancement.
2/ Microformats - This seems to be more of a buzz word at the moment than AJAX, but was only a matter of time before they appeared in my work. I have already been asked by clients what they are and how I can include them on new web builds.
On this site, the microformats can be found on the contact areas of my pages, as well as a full hCard on the contact page.
After seeing some excellent presentations on the subject at WebDD by Glenn Jones, and Drew McLellan’s more indepth presentation at the Highland Fling where I met the man who first established microformats, Brian Suda.
With just a little bit of forward thinking microformats can be applied to practically any web page particularly blog posts that mentions people, or an event or place for example.
There’s a great deal to learn about how to create meaningful markup using microformats, I feel I am at the beginning, however I’m very excited to see how this will develop in the next few years.
It gives markup more than static HTML ever did, it is usable content that can be extracted in a variety of ways.
Using these ways of coding for the web I feel I am ready for whatever comes next with the web and the related technologies.

Certainly jayonline is a good place for bloggers.
Microformats is really a good thing which is being popular day by day. As per microformats.org, Microformats are a set of simple, open data formats built upon existing and widely adopted standards.
