CSS Cansei de Ser Sexy vs. W3c

Surprised that no geeks have mentioned the relationship between CSS:

  1. the language used to describe how an HTML document should be formatted, and
  2. the Band from Brazil (link to wikipedia)

Both with the same name.

Cansei de Ser Sexy (lit. “Tired of being sexy” in Portuguese), also known as CSS, is a Brazilian band from São Paulo. I’m loving their video for Alala, this Video for Alala by sao paulo brazil’s CSS was directed by Cat Solen and show’s a killer fight breakout in reverse.

In fact here it is: ‘Alala’ video by CSS.

I wonder how they feel when someone is searching for their results in Google, to find links to the W3C and CSS zen garden?

Does this mean they will have a web standards based music site, rather than the atrocious myspace page that they currently have.. If so, I’m available!

Oh, and get the album, it’s rather good if you saw them on Jool’s Holland last week, you will know what I’m on about :)

‘Later’ with Jools Holland BBC broadcast: ‘Alala’ video by CSS.

    Alright Jimbo,

Thanks for posting the Jools Holland vid, must have missed it when it was on. I’m sure I’ll be catching the CSS live show soon, eh :)

I think you’ll find that all myspace pages are awful, them’s the rules!

indeed i’m quite a fan of CSS in both terms, I actively work with web standards and web technologies, and I’m also quite addicted to Cansei de Ser Sexy…

I live in Madrid, and around 10 or 11 months ago, I created a t-shirt with the text (quite big white) “CSS” and an small line behind it reading “Cansei de Ser Sexy” and another one reading “don’t freak out, it’s much better than w3c”

I wore that t-shirt at last MIX’07 event in Las Vegas (www.visitmix.com) and there was a lot of people asking about the band, most of the people were complete web 2.0 whores, so they were quite amazed about a band called CSS

    :)
