5 Relaxation techniques every geek can use

Work can all too often take over our lives outside the office with various ways to ’stay connected’.
However, I encourage you to make your office hours more productive by offering the following relaxation techniques every geek can use.. try the following tips that I use, you may find they will allow you to see things differently and achieve your work/life goals more successfully and more effectively.

  1. You can do the following quick meditation anywhere. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth slowly and deeply. Focus on your heart area, and visualise a time in your life when your were exquistely happy. Hold onto that thought for 5 to 10 minutes.
  2. Head out for a 20 - 30 minute stroll, taking in your surroundings and trying to remain in the moment without letting in other distractions your mind may bring.
  3. If you spend most of your day next to a desk, remember to have a quick stretch - interlock your fingers and pushing your arms up in the air for 15-30 seconds and closing your eyes.
  4. Engross your self in a good book or magazine for an hour or two, with a cup of green tea. The tea will reduce your stress and also may reduce cardiovascular disease and cancer.
  5. Attend a local yoga, tai-chi or qi-gong class. These ancient calming practices are excellent relaxation aids to people of all ages and abilities.
