5 Relaxation techniques every geek can use
Work can all too often take over our lives outside the office with various ways to ’stay connected’.
However, I encourage you to make your office hours more productive by offering the following relaxation techniques every geek can use.. try the following tips that I use, you may find they will allow you to see things differently and achieve your work/life goals more successfully and more effectively.
- You can do the following quick meditation anywhere. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth slowly and deeply. Focus on your heart area, and visualise a time in your life when your were exquistely happy. Hold onto that thought for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Head out for a 20 - 30 minute stroll, taking in your surroundings and trying to remain in the moment without letting in other distractions your mind may bring.
- If you spend most of your day next to a desk, remember to have a quick stretch - interlock your fingers and pushing your arms up in the air for 15-30 seconds and closing your eyes.
- Engross your self in a good book or magazine for an hour or two, with a cup of green tea. The tea will reduce your stress and also may reduce cardiovascular disease and cancer.
- Attend a local yoga, tai-chi or qi-gong class. These ancient calming practices are excellent relaxation aids to people of all ages and abilities.
